MAUI
For the fourth year in a row, Maui was voted "the best island in the world" in Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards. Also, in another poll recently conducted by Travel and Leisure Magazine, Maui was voted "the favorite Hawaiian Island".

If one island encompasses all of Hawaii's tropical enticements, it's Maui. Endowed with an array of remarkable natural and man-made attractions, plus an influx of extravagant luxury resorts and award-winning gourmet restaurants, Maui is quickly surpassing Oahu as the destination island of choice. The spectacular contours of the west Maui mountains and the lush tropical forest of the windward coast hold their own against Kauai's renowned gardens. Maui's Haleakala Crater, the world's largest dormant volcano, is as incredible as the Big Island's lava filled volcanic parks. Combine all this with the annual humpback whale migration to Maui's coastal waters, and it's easy to see why tourists and residents alike agree that Maui is the best.

While the majority of resorts line the sunny leeward coast of west and southwest Maui, the most spectacular attractions- the Hana Highway, Haleakala Crater and the upcountry are spread across the island, so schedule a few days to explore them all.

KAUAI
Many tourists consider Kauai the most beautiful of all the islands, and they keep coming back year after year. Hollywood also keeps returning to Kauai. Over the years, at least twelve films have been made on the island, including South Pacific, Jurassic Park, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kauai offers three distinct areas to stay. The south shore, east Kauai and the north shore.

SOUTH SHORE
Nearly always sunny, with broad white beaches, generally calm seas, and a profusion of tropical plants and trees, the southern coast of Kauai has been one of the most popular destinations on the island. Vacationers flock to the resorts at Poipu to enjoy tennis, good restaurants, and luxurious lodging as well as excellent swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and surfing.

EAST KAUAI
Midway up the east coast of Kauai are the resort areas of Wailua and Kapaa. Once the private preserve of Hawaii's Alii (royalty), this is now the most popular tourist area on the island. It offers good beaches, a river that winds through tropical forests and dependable weather.

NORTH SHORE
Beautiful and remote, the northern coast of Kauai has a huge array of riches, white-sand beaches, luminous Hanalei Bay, numerous waterfalls, and places to camp, hike, swim, surf, snorkel, golf and play tennis.
